What is Oxford cloth?

What is Oxford cloth made of?

Cotton Oxford: Oxford originated in a Scottish textile mill in the late 19th century. Originally, it was woven from pure cotton. Cotton oxfords are by far the most popular for lightweight formal wear and casual shirting. The most common oxford constructions are 40/1×24/2 for heavier casual shirts, 80's double layer for classic style oxford shirts, 50's single layer for light formal and casual shirts, premium oxford 75/2 x 38/3 for shirts.

Cotton and linen oxfords: Sometimes cotton oxfords can feel too warm. So designers set out to create breathable cotton/linen oxfords that have almost the same feel as classic cotton oxfords. The most common cotton and linen blend oxford is 55% cotton and 45% linen. Thanks to the slub effect created by the linen part, this fabric texture looks very nice and unique, making it suitable for both formal and casual wear.

Synthetic Oxford: Oxford fabrics are mostly made of synthetic fibers, especially polyester and nylon. Waterproof flame retardant oxford fabric is made of 100% polyester or 100% nylon. Polyester and Nylon Oxford are widely used in workwear and outdoor gear such as bags, tents, luggage and outdoor umbrellas. The most common polyester/nylon filaments used to make synthetic oxfords are 150D, 200D, 300D, 600D and 1200D.
